Labrador Retriever
A muscular working dog and the most popular of all retrievers. Its medium-sized ears hang close to the head, and its otterlike tail tapers toward the tip. The coat is usually solid black, yellow, or chocolate. The hair is dense and oily, enabling the Labrador to retrieve well in extremely cold water. The dog is a rapid, powerful swimmer, aided by a webbing that extends to the outer joint of the toes. The Labrador Retriever was originally bred in Newfoundland. It was brought to the United States in the 1930's.
This lab page is dedicated to Moe, my sister Pauline's dog.
