Dalmatian

Also called a coach dog, a strong dog that has a short-haired white coat speckled with small, distinct black or brown spots. It has a fairly long muzzle, and its medium-sized ears droop close to its head. Dalmatian puppies are born pure white, and their spots appear when they are about one month old. The breed may have been developed several hundred years ago in Dalmatia, now a part of Yugoslavia. For years the Dalmatian was associated with horses and under vehicles. Dalmatians are often seen riding on fire engines as mascots of firemen.
