by Nelly (feat. Kelly Rowland of Destiny's Child)
[Kelly Rowland] I.. love you, and I.. need you Nelly I.. love you, I do.. neeeeed you - but
[Chorus:
Kelly Rowland] No matter what I do, all I think about is you Even when I'm with my boo, know you know I'm crazy
over you No matter what I do, all I think about is you Even when I'm with my boo, y'know I'm crazy over you
(Jade)
Moving to Florida was no easy task. It was Andrew's idea, and being his wife, of course, I had to go along with it. I really
don't mind it, though. Atleast Miami was warmer than Toronto. I didn't feel that way at first, though. The last thing I wanted
to do was leave the house we were married in; the house our son was born in. I had told Andrew how I felt about moving, and
he blew up. The remnants of the argument still hang between us. He hasn't talked to me much since that day.
I shrug it off, as I pick up the last box out of the moving truck. As I turned to take it into the house, I looked down
the block. There was a man in his yard, playing with some kids. He was a tall man with a nice tan, covered with muscle, and
long black hair. Sweat soaked his black tank top, and poured from his face. He bent over to pick up the football, but when
he came up, he looked straight at me. Even a '5 o'clock shadow' looks hot on him. He smiled, and waved. I waved back at him.
I heard Alex calling from the screen door. I tore my eyes from the man, and took the box inside.
[Nelly] Check it, check it, check
it, uhh I met this chick and she just moved right up the block from me And uhh, she got the hots for me the finest thing
my hood done seen But oh no, oh no, she gotta a man and a son, doh'ohhh, but that's okay Cause I, wait for my cue
and just listen, play my position Like a shortstop, pick up e'rything mami hittin And in no time.. (no time) I.. I
plan to make this wah-one mi-i-ne.. and that's for sure Cause I, I never been the type to, break up a happy home But
uh, there's somethin bout baby girl I just can't leave alone So tell me ma what's it gonna be? She said (You don't know
what you mean to me)
(Scott)
I had to stop when I saw her. She was checking me out. I gave her the once over, before waving at her. I hope she liked
what she saw, because I did. When she turned to go in the house, my eyes followed her up the steps, and through the door.
I threw the ball to the kids. "You two, and your friends, go ahead and play a game without me. I'm gonna go clean up." "Why,
Dad?" "I'm gonna go introduce myself to the new neighbor."
After drying off, putting on some cologne, and changing my shirt, I walked over to her house. I knocked on the screen door.
A little toddler, no more than two, ran out of one room, and into to another yelling, "Momma... door. Momma... door." "Ok,
Alex. I heard." She picked up the toddler, and brought him to the door with her. "Uh... Hi," she said. "Hi. I wanted to welcome
you to the neighborhood. My name is Scott Hall." "Thank you. I'm Jade Martin," she said as she stuck out her hand to me. I
resisted the urge to kiss her hand, and gave it a slight shake. I looked her over again. That's when I noticed the two rings
on the hand holding her son up.
"If you ever need anything, I'm just down the block. I think you saw where." She blushed. "Yeah, you kinda caught me looking."
"Yep. Well, I'll see you later, Jade." "Bye, Scott." I loved the sound of my name on her lips. As I walked back to the house,
her husband pulled into their driveway. When he got out of the car, he slammed the door shut, and strode into the house looking
pissed at the world.
"You don't have this shit unpacked yet," I heard him yell at her. "Jesus Christ, Andrew... I'm trying to do this alone,
and take care of Alex. I told you I needed some help," she yelled back at him. I kept walking toward home. God, I wish I hadn't.
[Chorus:
Kelly Rowland]No matter what I do, all I think about is you Even when I'm with my boo, know you know I'm crazy
over you No matter what I do, all I think about is you Even when I'm with my boo, y'know I'm crazy over you
(Jade)
When Andrew came through the door, I was worried he had seen Scott at the house, and thought I was flirting with him. No
matter what, I was always faithful to him, even when he wasn't. In case he was ready to start a fight, I set Alex on the floor.
"How long does it take to empty a few boxes?" "I just got here a little bit ago with the truck. Feel lucky that I have it
unloaded," I yelled back at him. "Don't take that tone with me, woman." "I'll take any damn tone I want to. Don't tell me
what to do." He pushed me into the wall. "Daddy... No-no," Alex said to him. "Shut up, Alex," he yelled at him. Andrew picked
him up, and shook him. I grabbed Alex from his hands, and ran out the door. With my arms wrapped tightly around him, I ran
down the street, to Scott's house.
[Nelly]Check it, check it, check it, uhh I see a lot and you look and I never say a word I
know how niggaz start actin trippin out here about they girls And there's no way-ayy-hey, Nelly gon' fight over no day-hey-ame..
as you can see But I, I like your steez, your style, your whole demeanor The way you come through and holla and swoop
me in his 2-seater Now that's gangstah-ah-ahhh.. And I got special ways to thank yah-ah-ahhh.. don't you forget it But
uh, it ain't that easy for you to pack and leave him But uh, you and dirty got ties for different reasons I respect
that and right before I turn to leave, she said
(You don't know what you mean to me)
(Scott)
I saw her coming to the door, and opened it. "What's wrong, Jade?" "Andrew wanted to get physical with me and Alex. I had
to get out of there. I'm sorry, but I have nowhere else to go." "It's ok. Are you hurt?" "No. Alex, are you ok?" "Daddy...mean."
She looked him over. "I think he's ok." "Do you want me to call the police for you?" "Please, yes. I've taken a lot of shit
from him. This, I will not." "Come in."
I called the police, and told them what happened. When I went back into the living room, she was still protectivly holding
Alex. "Here... Why don't I take him to play with my kids' toys?" Alex put his arms up for me to take him, and I did. I carried
him to their room. "Just play with the toys, while I talk to your mommy, ok?" "Ok."
No matter what I do, all I think about is you Even when I'm
with my boo, know you know I'm crazy over you No matter what I do, all I think about is you Even when I'm with my boo,
y'know I'm crazy over you
[Nelly] Sing it for me K
[Kelly Rowland] I.. love you, and I.. need you Nelly I.. love you,
I do.. (c'mon girl) And it's more than you'll.. ever know But.. it's fo'sho You can always count on my love Foreveeeeer
more, yeahh-yeahh..
(Jade)
Now that the police have left, with Andrew in handcuffs, I'm taking an even longer look at Scott. "Thank you for helping
Alex and me. I'd still be running if you weren't here." "It's no problem. No woman deserves to be manhandled, mami." "I guess
Alex and I should be going. We've imposed on you long enough." "Listen, why don't you stay here for tonight?" The thoughts
going through my head could have got me locked up for adultry. "No, I couldn't." "I'll sleep on the couch, and you and Alex
can have my room." I let out a relieved sigh. "I thought you meant for us to..." A smile played at his lips. "Not while you're
married." "I plan on filing for divorce tomorrow," I blurted out. "Hopfully because of what happened today," he said as he
took slow steps toward me. "Today, yesterday, everyday since Alex was born. I'm tired of the mental abuse, and the adultry."
Once I was between him and the couch, he grabbed the back of the couch on either side of me.
As he was coming down to kiss me, the door opened. "I see you're getting to know the new neighbor real well, Dad." "Hey,
why don't you two go play with her son, Alex? He's in your room." "But, Dad..." "Go do it, now," he said in a low voice that
told them they were in trouble if they didn't. They ran off to their room.
"Now, where were we?" "Redoing the sleeping arrangements for tonight," I told him, almost hopfully. He kissed me hard and
deep; not ending it, until we were both out of breath. "So, he cheated on you?" "Yes. Alot." He kissed me again; softly, yet
quickly. "Can I take back what I said?" "Yes, you can." "I want to make love to you, Jade." "I want you to, Scott." He picked
me up, and carried me to his bedroom.
***********************
An hour later, I was climbing off of him, and laying down next to him. "It's been so long... I forgot how good sex could
be," I said to him. "I'd love to show you again, but we need to check on the kids." "If I stay here tonight..." "I'll make
you beg me to stop."
[Nelly]East coast, I know you shakin right Down South, I know you bouncin right West coast, I know you
walkom right, cause Midwest, I see you swingin right (You don't know what you mean to me) No matter what I do,
all I think about is you Even when I'm with my boo, know you know I'm crazy over you No matter what I do, all I think
about is you Even when I'm with my boo, y'know I'm crazy over you
(Scott)
That was three years ago. We were married a year ago, and in five months, we'll have our first child together. My kids
love Jade, and I would be lost without her. She is my friend, lover, 'therapist'... Nobody could ask for a better woman.
[Nelly]East coast,
I know you shakin right Down South, I know you bouncin right West coast, I know you walkin right, cause Midwest,
I see you swing it right (You don't know what you mean to me) East coast, you still shakin right Down South, I see
you bouncin right West coast, I know you walkin right, cause Midwest, I see you swingin right (You don't know what
you mean to me) [Chorus]
No matter what I do, all I think about is you Even when I'm with my boo, know you know I'm crazy over you No matter
what I do, all I think about is you Even when I'm with my boo, y'know I'm crazy over you
(Jade)
Though Scott has a few faults, I don't know what I'd do without him. He is my protector, lover, and hero. I look forward
to laying in his arms every night, just as Alex looks forward to playing with him every day. The bond between Scott and Alex
has grown to the point that Alex calls him daddy. I won't tell him otherwise. Andrew abandoned his rights to be his father
that day. He hasn't even tried to see him since then. I am thankfull for that. Scott has shown us the love that Andrew never
did.
[Nelly]East
coast, I know you shakin right Down South, I know you bouncin right West coast, I know you walkin right Midwest,
I see you swing it right (You don't know what you mean to me) East coast, you still shakin right Down South, I see
you bouncin right West coast, I know you walkin right, cause Midwest, I see you swingin right (You don't know what
you mean to me)
