chapter 1 Walking out on my past had been the hardest thing
for me. As the jet was taking off, I thought of who I left behind in the WWF. My ex-husband, friends, ex-lovers, and enemies...
I hoped to be on the road with them again one day. Until then, I was escaping to WCW. I sat between Adams and Clark, staring
down at my contract. I sat on the floor and looked it over. "How's it looking, baby girl," Brian asked. "So far, it
looks like you have a new valet." "Do you think you can handle us?" "I know I can handle you. Your friend here is
too damn quiet, though." "You'll get used to it. Excuse me," he said before going to the bathroom. I set my chin on
Bryan's knee. "I've heard you talk, so I know you can." "I'm kinda shy," he whispered. "I can break you of that,"
I said, seductivly. He turned beet red, and asked, "how?" "I have a little bag of tricks." "What kind of 'tricks'?"
"You've gone through puberty. Use your imagination." He turned a few more shades of red. "Jade, what are you doing
to Bry?" "Just talking, Adams. Can't I get to know my team mate?" "As red as he is, I'd think you asked the size of
his dick." "Not yet. How big are ya, Bry?" "Jade!" "What!? I was just kidding! And, if I wanted to find out, he's
the only one that can stop me." "Would you two knock your shit off!? You two fight like brother and sister," Bryan said.
"She was just ribbing with me." "Told ya I could break you of it." Adams laughed his ass off. "You just needed a little
help." "I could have done it without you," I said with an evil grin. "Your mind stays in the gutter, doesn't it,"
Bryan asked. "Yep. Get used to it."
chapter 2 The plane landed, and we gathered our bags. We got in the limo,
and headed for HQ. Waiting in the lobby to greet us was Eric Bischoff. "Hello, Ms. Jade. Fellas... How was the flight?" "Just
fine, Mr. Bischoff." "Just call me Eric. Let's go up to the office, and look over the contract together before you sign."
"Pretty confident, aren't you, Eric?" "Better pay, better benefits... Why would anyone pass it up?" We all laughed.
The guys went to see the writers to talk out the new angle. After looking over the contract, and signing, Eric offered
to take me to lunch. I told him that I'd take a rain check. On the way out of the building, I ran into Bryan again, and asked
him to come to lunch with me. He agreed. We went to a Chinese place down the street. Once we sat down, and ordered our drinks
and food, I told him, "sorry if I went overboard earlier. That's just how I am." "It's ok. You were making me nervous.
Sorry about blowing up, but that's how I am when I'm nervous." "No biggie. So, how long have you been in the biz?" "About
16 years. Been a long road for me. How about you?" "Seven years. I'm thinking about quitting after this contract. I want
to have a family before I get too old." "I don't blame you for wanting to quit to start a family. I tried both, and it
wound up in divorce." "I'm sorry to hear that." "So was she," he mumbled. Time to change the subject. "What do you think
about having a woman with you and Adams?" "I was against it at first. It was worse when I found out you were someone Adams
knew. But, now that I've met you, it could be interesting." The smile he gave me sent heat racing through my body. I gave
myself a mental shake. 'I need a brake from all men. No matter how cute,' I thought. "I hope I don't disappoint." 'Why did
that sound like I was flirting with him?' Luckily, the waiter brought our orders. We ate in silence. We were getting ready
to leave, when my cell phone rang. "Hello." "Where'd you go, baby girl?" It was Adams. "Bryan and I went out for lunch. Why?
What's up?" "We have a meeting with the writers in 15 minutes. Then, Russo wants to see what you can do. We're gonna go down
to the Power Plant." "Alright. We'll be back in five."
chapter 3 The meeting didn't take very long. It was mainly
about my introduction, and where it would go. My first pay per view match was against Torrie Wilson at Halloween Havoc in
six weeks. The workout at the Power Plant was almost done. There weren't any women hanging around or working out that
day, so I wound up fighting with Adams. Russo seemed impressed when I put my finisher on Brian. Later, Russo said the move
would be renamed "Sneak-a-Toke". I started wondering if all of the drug references were such a good idea. I was just getting
ready to head to the showers, when "Buff" Bagwell came in with a friend that I hadn't seen in years. "Lori!" I screamed across
the room. "Jade!" We met in the middle with a big hug. "What the hell are you doing here? I thought you were still with WWF."
"Today's my first day. I'm working with Kronik. What are you doing here? Doesn't seem like much fun to sit around here,
and watch Marcus practice." She sighed and rolled her eyes. "He drags me here atleast once a week. It's boring, but he
wants me to watch." "I'll tell ya what. I'll go take a shower, then I'll sit here and be bored with you." "Well, go then,"
she said trying to keep a straight face. When I returned to the ring area, Adams was sitting in front of Lori, telling
her what Marcus was doing wrong. Clark wound up helping Bagwell in the ring, and by the looks of things, he was getting his
ass kicked. Bryan pulled off the "Meltdown". Marcus sat up, and punched the mat. "What happened to "Buff the Stuff", I
yelled at him. "Who the hell are you to criticize my wrestling? You're a new comer." "New comer my ass! I've been around almost
as long as you. The only difference is I haven't let it go to my head." I stood and said bye to Lori. "Less show boating,
and more wrestling, and you might get to the upper level." "You think you're so tough? Why don't you step in the ring with
me," he invited, holding the ropes open for me. "Maybe sometime when you're not so upset, or tired." I said bye to everyone,
and grabbed my bag. Bryan asked me to wait for him, so we could leave together. I talked to Lori until he came out of the
locker room, still wet from his shower. I said bye to Lori, and grabbed my things again. Bryan offered me his arm, and I took
it. Then, he led me out to the car.
chapter 4 "I have an apartment here in town. If you want to... I mean, I know
what hotels can be like. I mean..." "Bryan, are you asking me to stay with you?" He turned to me, and gave me an innocent
grin. "I have a guest room." I laughed at his shyness. "Thank you. I can cook, if you'd like." "Sounds good. I haven't had
a homecooked meal in a long time." We stopped at the grocery store, and picked up the necessary supplies for french bread,
noodles, meatballs, home made spaghetti sauce and salad. When we got to the apartment, and went inside, we set the groceries
on the counter in the kitchen. He showed me around the small, sparcely decorated apartment. "I live in south Florida, but
it's nice to have a place to stay near the office." I took my bags into the guest room, then went to the kitchen to start
dinner. A few minutes later, Bryan came into the kitchen, and asked if he could help. "Sure, you can start the salad." An
hour and a half later, we were sitting in the living room, eating. When we were finished, he turned on the radio, and
relaxed on the couch. A song he liked came on. "Would you like to dance," he asked. "Sure." He placed his hand on my hip,
and I put mine on his chest. We joined hands, and swayed to the slow song. The hand at my hip slid around the small of my
back, pulling me closer, until my head rested on his chest. The scent of his calogne, and his warm breath on my neck, sent
a warmth throughout my body. I let go of his hand, and wrapped my arms around his neck, and he wrapped his around my waist.
I looked up at him, and he brought his lips down gently on mine. When I responded, he became bolder. His tongue saught entry,
and I willingly opened for him. I hadn't noticed that we stopped dancing, until the back of my legs hit his bed. He slid
his hands under my shirt, and pushed it over my head. I unzipped his shirt, and pushed it up and off of him, and let it fall
to the floor. His muscles twitched under my touch, as I slid my hands over his chest. Bryan kneeled, so he could reach my
breasts. His hands toyed with them, while he licked the valley between. Slowly, he went to the right breast, until his warm
mouth closed over the stiff peak. His tongue swirled around the nipple, then gently sucked. He repeated his actions on the
left breast. He spread kisses all over my stomach, as he loosened my jeans, and slid them off. He hesitated for a long
moment, before slipping his thumb under the leg hole in my thong. Once his thumb touched the short curls, he flinched, and
pulled his thumb back out. "You're not getting shy again, are you?" "No, I just..." "Shhh." I sat on the bed, and grabbed
his belt loops. I pulled, until he moved as close as possible between my knees. I ran my hands all over his torso, then down
his arms to his hands. I grabbed his hands, and placed them on my hips, all the while staring into his eyes. "Don't stop now,
Bryan," I begged him. His grip tightened on my hips. He pulled me even closer, until he was able to grind his jean clad
erection against my center. He stood, and removed his pants and underwear. I moved to the head of the bed, giving him plenty
of room to join me. He climbed on the bed, and pulled my panties off. He laid on top of me, and claimed my lips with a deep
kiss. Without ending the kiss, he entered me. His slow, yet deep, thrusts were driving me crazy. I wrapped my legs around
his waist, and met his thrusts with my own. He went on forever, but forever didn't seem to last long enough. We cried
out together as we reached our peaks at the same time. He laid down beside me, exhausted. I rolled to my side, and propped
my head on my hand. "That was wonderful," I told him. "Yes, it was." I leaned over, and kissed his cheek. He gave me a half
grin, and said, "goodnight, Jade." "Goodnight, Bryan." We got comfortable, and fell asleep.
chapter 5 When
I awoke in the morning, I was alone in the bed. I figured Bryan went to the bathroom, or was in the living room. The note
on the pillow proved me wrong. I picked up the note, and read it.
Dear Jade, Sorry if it seems like I'm running
away from you. Well, in a way, I am. I enjoyed what we shared last night immensly. Unfortunately, afterward, I stayed up all
night thinking about it. In all honesty, I feel like I slept with my best friend's little sister. I can't carry on a relationship
with you, if this is the way I will feel every time we have sex. I am sorry. Bryan
What a way to start the day,
huh? I went into the guest room, where my bags were, and grabbed my cell phone out of my purse. I dialed Adams' cell number,
since I didn't have Bryan's. When he answered, I asked him, "is Clark with you?" "Yeah, why?" "Can I talk to him for a minute?"
"Sure, hold on." "Hello," Bryan said. "You sorry mother fucker," I said between clenched teeth. "What do you mean 'it
was like sleeping with my best friend's little sister'?" That's when I heard Adams start laughing. Loud and clear, I heard
Adams ask Clark, "you slept with her? Damn, you're brave." "Adams, you were supposed to hand him the phone, not put it on
the handless thing!" He burst out laughing. "Too late now." With a heavy sigh, I started to calm down. "You couldn't say
this to my face? Did you have to leave a note, so I couldn't get a word in on this? Maybe I didn't want a relationship to
come out of what happened. Did you even stop to think of that?" "No, I didn't. I know how emotionally attached a woman can
get." "Save that bull shit for someone who believes it." "Jade, give him a chance to talk," Adams said. "This is an 'A'
and 'B' conversation, Bro. 'C' your way out of it." "Look, I'm sorry. If I would have known that's how it was, I wouldn't
have left." "Alright. I'm gonna get out of here. I'll see you guys later." "Jade, I told you that you could stay, and I mean
it. You don't have to leave over this." "Well, I'm going to. Adams, you know how to reach me. I don't know if I'm going home
or to a hotel, yet." "Alright, baby girl. Just calm down, will ya?" "Ok. See you guys Tuesday." I hung up the phone, and
went to take a shower. After I got out, and was dressed, I called Eric. "Hi, Eric. Where's tonight's show?" "It's here in
town. Why?" "I'd like to go check it out, and meet some of the people I'll be working with." "Alright. I'll tell security
to let you through. Is there anything else you need?" "Nope." "Alright. I'll see you at the show tonight." We said goodbye,
and hung up. I gathered my bags, and went in search of the closest hotel to the arena.
chapter 6 I checked into
the hotel, then went out for something to eat. After that, I hung out in the room, until it was time to go to the arena. Once
I got in, I was in search of the Kronik dressing room. I went in, but the guys hadn't got there yet. I hid in the private
bathroom, until I heard them come into the room. I heard one of them drop their gear, and head for the bathroom. When the
door opened I saw that it was Bryan. I punched him in the eye. "Now, I'll let it rest. Next time, use your voice, and not
a fucking pen." Adams stood over Bryan as he laid on the floor. "Now you see why I said you were brave. You piss her off,
and she gets even." After I stepped over Bryan, and stood next to Brian, he laid his arm on my shoulders. "So, little Sis,
are you coming out with us tonight?" "Don't call me little Sis right now, ok. Stick with baby girl. And, no. I wasn't even
gonna be here tonight, if Bry hadn't left that damn note." "Well, since you are here, let me introduce you to some of
the 'good guys' around here. You gonna be ok, bro?" "Yeah. Jade, can I have a moment alone with you?" Adams left us alone.
Bryan sat on the bench, and asked me to sit with him. "Aren't you getting carried away?" "Yeah, but I wake up in a bad enough
mood. Finding the note screwed up my whole day." I watched him as he sat there, holding his eye. "Let me look at it." He moved
his hand, but I didn't see anything. "You'll be just fine. There isn't even a mark." He grabbed my hand. "Look, I am really
sorry. Brian said you were like a sister to him. That should have kept me away, but the way you were acting yesterday..."
"Just forget it. It happened, it's over, let's let it be." He stuck out his hand, and said, "deal." We shook hands, then I
left the room. As Adams and I walked the halls, he introduced me to the Harris Brothers, the Filthy Animals, Ric and David
Flair, Hugh Morris, and Sean O'Haire. We sat out by the docks talking for awhile, and he introduced me to some of the guys
as they came in. A long black limo pulled up, and out stepped an extremely large man. "Who's that guy," I asked him. "That
is Kevin Nash. You remember 'Diesel', don't you?" "That's Diesel? I like the black hair better." "Stay away from him. He's
nothing but trouble. Especially for a woman." "Are you saying I can't handle myself with a big man?" "I know you couldn't
handle him. He's the 'One-night-stand King'. But, the things that go on in his room, I wouldn't want to see. I've seen ladies
come out of his room barely able to walk, and black and blue." As I stared at Kevin, I told Brian, "if you won't introduce
me, I'll introduce myself." I jumped off the box we were sitting on, and walked over to the big man. "Hello, Kevin. My name's
Jade. I'm new to the company." "Nice to meet you, Jade," he said while checking me out. "I'm up here, darlin'," I said, trying
to get his attention away from my tits. "I know. I just like seeing the new bodies around here." I gave him a grin, and said,
"ok, I'll see you around." I walked back over to Brian, and sat on the box again. He laughed. "That's the worst idea I've
ever had. I was getting sick watching him stare at my boobs." "He also thinks he's God's gift to women." "I figured that out
already." He patted my knee, and asked, "are you ready to go back to the dressing room, baby girl?" "I wanted to find Bischoff,
and talk to him. I want to know what's going on with my debut tomorrow." "Alright, let's go." Adams left me at Eric's
office door. I knocked, then heard Eric yell, "come in." He seemed upset about something. "Sit down, Jade. I have some news,
and you're not going to like it." I did, and he continued. "I just got word from upstairs. Ted Turner is putting the company
up for sale." "My day just keeps getting better," I muttered. "Let me guess, my contract goes up for sale along with the company?"
"Everyone's contract is pretty much on the auction block. I'm putting my bid in on the company tomorrow." "Are the storylines
going as planned until it's sold?" "Not quite. All new talent is supposed to be sent home, until further notice." "Well, I
hope you get it." "Thanks." When I left his office, I was feeling numb. I wandered around the halls, until I wound up
in front of the dressing room. Tears were running down my cheeks as I entered the room. "There won't be a 'Mary Jane'." I
went on to tell them what Eric told me. Adams gave me a sympathetic hug. "It'll be ok. Atleast you left Vince on good terms.
He'll probably hire you back." "So, what are you going to do now?" "I guess, go home. What else can I do?" "You can stay
on the road with us, if you want." "I dunno." I looked at my watch. "What time do you have, Adams?" "5:30, why?" "That's funny.
My watch says 420." He got the hint. "You're not going to, are you?" "The first joint I get my hands on." "You do, and you'll
wind up just like Hall." "Oh, well... Later, guys. Have a good show."
chapter 7
Later that week, after I was
sent home, Stephanie called me, and asked me to come out for a visit. She said she could use all the support she could get,
since she had miscarried her's and Crash's baby. I stayed with her for a week. When I came home, the house seemed more empty
than ever. Joanie had moved out, saying she wanted to move to California. It was just Nikole and me. I was thankfull that
she didn't leave as well. Billy Gunn asked her to move in with him, but she decided to stay, because she didn't want to switch
schools. At the end of the school year, she would be moving to Montana with him. Brian Adams was driving me nuts. He called
me every day to make sure I was alright. One time, I made the foolish decision to mess with his head. When he called, I told
him I was taking a bath, and was about to throw the toaster in. Two hours later, he was knocking on my door. I love him for
the way he worries about me. He's just like having an over protective big brother.
Almost a year later, Nikole and
I were watching Raw when the phone rang. I answered it. "Hey, Jade. How have you been?" It was Stephanie. "Hey, Steph! It's
been rough since I've been out of work." "That's what I'm calling about. My dad is buying the company." "You're shitting me!"
"Nope. Are you watching the show right now?" "Of course." "You see my dad out there don't you?" "Yes." "Just watch." I
watched as Vince went on about how he was going to buy the company, and "put it on the shelf". Moments later, I heard the
familiar song that Vince and Shane use. Vince seemed confused, since he wasn't done talking. The Titan Tron lit up with the
picture of Shane at the Nitro show. He said that he had bought the company out from under his dad. "This is a story line,
right? Your brother didn't buy it, did he?" "No. It's in my dad's name. He's putting Shane in charge of it, though." "This
is wicked cool!" "It gets even better. Your contract was one of the ones that was bought with it." "No shit!?" "I want to
see your ass in the office Wednesday morning at nine." "You know I love you guys, right!?" "Don't start brown nosing yet,"
Steph laughed. "I'll see you Wednesday. I have to go celebrate!" "Have fun. Bye." After I hung up, I was jumping around
the room like a kangaroo. "What the hell is your problem, Jade," Niki asked. "That was Stephanie. Vince bought WCW, and my
contract! I'm going back to work!" "That's great, Sis!" "Get dressed. We're going out to get drunk!" "I can't. I have school
tomorrow." "Not until noon. Now, get off your ass, and let's go!"
chapter 8 Nine o'clock didn't come soon enough on Wednesday.
I left the hotel at 7:30, and headed over to the office. At 8:15 I was sitting outside Vince's office waiting for him to get
there. Every time the door opened, I jumped to my feet. The one time I didn't, it was Vince and Linda coming through the door.
"Well, aren't you a sight for sore eyes," Vince said. "I missed you, too, sir. Hello, Linda. How have you been?" "Just fine,
sweetie. Are you excited about going back to work?" "Yes, ma'am. It's been awhile." "Well, let's get things started," Vince
said. We talked over what would be happening in the future with my career. He told me that I would stay on the WCW roster,
instead of putting me back with WWF, and that they couldn't uphold the price they offered on my contract, but that it wouldn't
be much less. He told me about the search they were on for a station to play the Nitro shows. So far, no one wanted it. "Why
don't you combine the shows for awhile? You could give some of the fans their dream matches, like Rock vs. Booker T, Taker
and Kane vs. Kronik, Scott Steiner vs. Kurt Angle..." He sat in his chair, with a thoughtful look on his face. "If none of
the stations jump on it, I just might do that. But, the fans won't get to see Taker, Kane and Kronik. I didn't buy their contracts."
"Why?" "They're both injured, and there's no telling how long they will be out." "Ok, but you still have a chance to buy them
later, right?" "Until their current contracts are up. Why?" "You've worked with them before. You know they are great guys,
and great performers." "Yes, but they are older now." "So is Taker, but you keep him around." "Speaking of Mark, there's
been some changes that you may want to know about." "Like what?" "He's married again." My heart felt like a hand squeezed
it, to the point where it was about to burst. "Oh, really? Good for him," I said, trying to act like I didn't care. "Now,
Jade, you know we know you better than that," Linda said. "We know how much you loved him." "Yeah, but it's over. I guess
I wasn't ready to hear he moved on, though. It's ok. He deserves to be happy." "Is there anything you need to ask?" "No.
I think we covered it all." "Ok. I'll call you when something happens with the show." "Ok. I hope to see you two again soon."
After I left the office, I stood outside, and leaned against the wall. I didn't know moving on could hurt so bad.
chapter
9 I went to the closest bar, and drowned my sorrows with a shit load of Jack Daniels. A couple hours later, when I was
about ready to stagger back to the hotel, John came in. "Hey, Layfield, over here," I yelled across the bar. He took the bar
stool next to me, and said, "damn, Jade. You look like hell." "I just got into a fight with Jack," I laughed. "Stick with
your friend Cuervo next time." He called the bartender over, and ordered a beer, and a coke for me. When he left to get
our drinks, John asked, "so, why are you drinking?" "I just found out Mark got married again. Trying to mend my heart." "I
guess the ex really is the last to know. He got married a few months after you left." "That's nice to hear." I yelled at the
bartender, "can I get another shot?" When he came back over, he said, "no more for you." "He's no fun," I told John. "You
don't need anymore, darlin'. You'll poison yourself." "Right now, you're the only one that cares." "Come on. Let's get some
food in you." "Whatever you say," I said, as I wrapped an arm around his waist, so he could help me walk. Once we got to his
truck, he leaned me against the side, and unlocked the door. Before he helped me in, he asked where I was staying. I told
him, and that was the last thing I remember. When I woke up, some time later, I was fully clothed, in bed, and under the
covers. John was laying on top of the covers next to me. I looked around the room, and found a fast food bag sitting on the
table. My stomach growled so loud I thought it was going to wake him up. I went over to the table, and grabbed the fries out
of the bag. After I ate them, I looked at the clock. It was 12:30 in the morning, so I went back to bed. "I hope those
weren't my fries you ate," John said. "I'll buy you breakfast in the morning. Go back to sleep." "You're the first woman I've
slept with that wanted to buy me breakfast." I had to laugh. "Smart ass." The next time I woke up, it was because the
bathroom door slammed shut. "Hello, lady," John said in his best Val Venis voice. I covered my head with the blanket, and
said, "leave the towel on!" "The 'Big John-bowski' just wants to come out and say," he sucked in a sharp breath, "rise and
shine." "John, you're a goof ball," I said from under the blanket. "Get dressed, or breakfast is off." He went back in the
bathroom, laughing his ass off. As I was getting out of bed, my cell phone rang. I took it out of my purse, looked at
the caller i.d., then answered it. "Is it that time of the week already, Adams?" "Good morning to you, too. Am I interrupting
something?" "I'm getting ready to go out to breakfast with someone." "Anyone I know?" "Why do you need to know?" "'Cause I
worry about you." "I'm a big girl, Brian. I can take care of myself. Besides, he's just a friend." "'He'? I thought it was
one of your giflfriends." "You thought wrong. You know, I'm starting to think you're spying on me." "I'm not." "Whatever.
I have to go, before breakfast is over down stairs. I'll talk to you when I get home." "Where are you?" "Bye, Adams!" And,
I hung up on him. I knew I'd hear about it later. When John came back out, he jumped on the bed. "Are you ready," he asked.
"Give me about 5 minutes." I leaned toward him, and looked him in the eyes. "I want to thank you for what you did last night."
"What are friends for?" "You're a sweet heart." "I thought I was a goof ball?" I laughed all the way to the bathroom.
chapter
10 "So, what do you have planned for the rest of the day," John asked between bites of his bisquits and gravy. "I'll probably
go to the gym, and work out. Hopfully, I'll get some ring time. What are you planning?" "Nothing, really. I was wondering
if you'd mind a tag-along." "You're more than welcome to. I could use a partner to help with some moves I've been working
on." After we finished our breakfast, and I paid the bill, we headed out to the training facility. When we walked through
the door, I scanned the room for familiar faces. I saw "Crash", "Hardcore", Buh Buh Ray, and my big buddy, Paul. I ran over
to him, and jumped on his back. "Hey, baby. Did ya miss me?" "Holy shit! Jade?" "The one and only. How ya been," I asked as
I slid off of his back. "I've been great. I've missed having you around." "Flirt," I laughed. "Hey, guys, look who's here."
They all said their "Hi's" and went back to practicing. John and I sat in the chairs near the ring, and Paul stood next
to me. We bullshitted while we watched "Hardcore" and Buh Buh fighting. And then, he came out of the locker room... "Hey,
Andrew, look who's here," Paul yelled across the ring. He looked at me, and seemed somewhat shocked. He came over and said
hi to John. When he looked at me, it seemed like he went back into the past, thinking of something. "Hey, J. How have you
been?" "I've been doing good. How have you been, Andy?" "Good." You could almost cut the tension between us with a knife.
All I could think was, 'I was willing to give this man my heart, and he broke it.' Our eyes seemed locked. Neither of us could
turn away, until he asked, "can we go somewhere, and talk?" I stood and followed him into one of the offices. "What,"
I asked with a scowl. "Calm down, will you? I don't want to hurt you anymore. I want to apologize." "That was almost a year
ago, and you know what? It still fucking hurts. You screwed up every ounce of trust I ever had in you." "I know, and I'm sorry
for that. I only had two things then: you and the biz. Trish wanted to take both from me." "So why didn't you give that poison
to her instead of me?" "Forget it. Forget you even saw me today," Andrew said as he walked toward the door. "Andy, wait."
He stood in front of me, his eyes showing the anger and pain within him. "I'm sorry for jumping on you. It's just... Part
of me doesn't ever want to see you again, but another part is still in love with you. This inner conflict just brings out
the bitch in me." A smile teased his lips. "If you're a bitch, you have every right to be." He stepped closer, trapping
me between him and the table. His eyes had darkened with desire. "Don't misunderstand what I said. I still love you, but I
don't trust you." A knock at the door made him move away from me. "Jade? Is everything ok in there," John asked from the
other side. "Yeah, everything's fine." "Ok, could you drop me off at the hotel? I forgot my computer, and I have stuff to
do on it." "Give me a second." I looked up at Andrew. "Remember what I said." "I'll regain your trust. And, hopefully,
one day we'll be together again." "We'll see." He wrapped an arm around my waist, and kissed me on the forehead. "I still
love you, too." His closeness was giving me shivers, despite the warmth radiating from his body. "You make it very hard
to be upset with you." I escaped his arm, and left the office. "You should visit more often," he said, following me out. "Visit,
hell... I'm coming back to work." I left the facility, thoroughly enjoying the shock on his face.
chapter 11 A
month later, Vince called. "We came up with a storyline for you. When can you start?" "Is tonight good," I asked teasing him.
"Too early. How about next week?" "Monday or Tuesday?" "The show is Monday, but I want you to show up Sunday. We're all coming
in then, and we can go over your storyline before the show." "So, what am I doing? Helping you fight the Alliance?" "No, you're
joining the Alliance. You're helping Steph and Shane." "Do what!?" "Well, you were still under contract with WCW, even
though you never debuted." "Ok. Can we turn a bad thing into a good thing?" "I'm listening." "Stick me with Palumbo and O'Haire.
I'd love to walk out between those two." "No can do, but you are being saddled with someone." "Who?" "Test." "Aw, fuck!" "What?
I thought you two got along?" "Nevermind. Does he know about this?" "Yeah, he helped with it, along with Page." "What does
Page have to do with this?" "We'll talk about that when you get to the show." "Ok, you have the ticket waiting for me at the
counter, and I'll be there Sunday." "Okay. I'll see ya there. Bye." "Bye." As soon as I hung up the phone, I called Andrew's
cell phone. "Hello," he said in his cheery voice. "Andrew Martin, tell me you did not tell Vince we should work together."
"How else would I gain your trust?" I wanted to knock that cheery tone out of his throat. "Trying to control my work life
is not the way. God, Andrew! You couldn't mention this shit to me before taking it to Vince?" "Does this mean you won't do
it?" "No, I'll do it. So help me, if you fuck up, you will be terribly sorry." I hung up on him after that. The nerve
of that man, thinking I would just fall in to this. But, then again, I did.
