Paradise By The Dashboard Light
1. PARADISE
BOY:
I remember every little thing
As if it happened only yesterday
Parking by the lake
And there was not another car in sight
And I never had a girl
Looking any better than you did
And all the kids at school
They were wishing they were me that night
And now our bodies are oh so close and tight
It never felt so good, it never felt so right
And we're glowing like the metal on the edge of a knife
Glowing like the metal on the edge of a knife
C'mon!
Hold on tight!
C'mon!
Hold on tight!
Thought it's cold and lonely in the deep dark night
I can see paradise by the dashboard light
GIRL:
Ain't no doubt about it
We were doubly blessed
'Cause we were barely seventeen
And we were barely dressed
Ain't no doubt about it
Baby got to go and shout it
Ain't no doubt about it
We were doubly blessed
BOY: 'Cause we were barely seventeen
And we were barely dressed
Baby doncha hear my heart
You got it drowning out the radio
I've been waiting so long
For you to come along and have some fun
And I gotta let you know
No you're never gonna regret it
So open up your eyes
I got a big surprise
It'll feel all right
Well I wanna make your motor run
And now our bodies are oh so close and tight
It never felt so good, it never felt so right
And we're glowing like the metal on the edge of a knife
Glowing like the metal on the edge of a knife
C'mon!
Hold on tight!
C'mon!
Hold on tight!
Though it's cold and lonely in the deep dark night
I can see paradise by the dashboard light
Paradise by the dashboard light
You got to do what you can
And let Mother Nature do the rest
Ain't no doubt about it
We were doubly blessed
'Cause we were barely seventeen
And we were barely-
We're gonna go all the way tonight We're gonna go all the way And tonight's the night... We're gonna go all the way tonight
We're gonna go all the way And tonight's the night...
RADIO BROADCAST OK, here we go, we got a real pressure cooker going here, Two down, nobody on, no score, bottom of the
ninth, There's the windup, and there it is, a line shot up the middle, Look at him go. This boy can really fly! He's rounding
first and really turning it on now, he's not letting up at all, he's gonna try for second; the ball is bobbled out in center,
and here comes the throw, and what a throw! He's gonna slide in head first, here he comes, he's out! No, wait, safe-safe at
second base, this kid really makes things happen out there. Batter steps up to the plate, here's the pitch-he's going, and
what a jump he's got, he's trying for third, here's the throw, it's in the dirt-safe at third! Holy cow, stolen base! He's
taking a pretty big lead out there, almost daring him to try and pick him off. The pitcher glances over, winds up, and it's
bunted, bunted down the third base line, the suicide squeeze is on! Here he comes, squeeze play, it's gonna be close, holy
cow, I think he's gonna make it!

I gotta know right now!
Before we go any further!

Will you love me forever?
Do you need me?

Will you make me so happy for the rest of my life?
Will you take me away and will you make me your wife?

Will you never leave me!?
Will you make me happy for the rest of my life!?
Will you take me away and will you make me your wife!?

Before we go any further
Do you love me!?
Will you love me forever!?
BOY:
Let me sleep on it
Baby, baby let me sleep on it
Let me sleep on it
And I'll give you an answer in the morning
Let me sleep on it
Baby, baby let me sleep on it
Let me sleep on it
And I'll give you an answer in the morning

Let me sleep on it
GIRL: Will you love me forever?
BOY: Let me sleep on it
GIRL: Will you love me forever!!!!
III. PRAYING FOR THE END OF TIME
I couldn't take it any longer
Lord I was crazed
And when the feeling came upon me
Like a tidal wave I started swearing to my god and on my mother's grave
That I would love you to the end of time
I swore that I would love you to the end of time!
So now I'm praying for the end of time
To hurry up and arrive
'Cause if I gotta spend another minute with you
I don't think that I can really survive
I'll never break my promise or forget my vow
But God only knows what I can do right now
I'm praying for the end of time
It's all that I can do
Praying for the end of time,
So I can end my time with you!!
BOY: It was long ago and it was far away
And it was so much better that it is today
GIRL: It never felt so good
It never felt so right
And we were glowing like A metal on the edge of a knife
Sean and Jade were high school sweethearts, I guess you could say. Sean was the unconventional jock, and Jade was the cast-out
headbanger. You'd think they wouldn't get along, but they did. They met each other through mutual friends. Jade's friend wanted
to go out with a guy, but didn't want to go alone since it was their first date. Her date brought Sean. They hit it off pretty
well; even better then their friends did. They saw each other a few times afterward. Then, the junior prom came around.
"Are you wearing a tux," his friend, Mark, asked. "Nah. Jade's not into all this dressing up. To tell you the truth, I'm
not either. I don't even know why we're going." "Because you asked me to be your date," Jade said as she walked toward them.
"Hey, babe," Sean said as he slipped his arm around her waist. "You ready to go home?" "When you're ready to take me." He
turned back to Mark. "I'll see you at the prom tonight, man." "Later."
As they pulled up in front of her house, Sean said, "I'll be back at seven." "OK," she said as she stared at her hands.
"You don't want to go, do you?" She just looked at him. He laughed. "We can go, and stay a few minutes. Then we can ditch
it." "Alright." She leaned over, and kissed him. "I'll be ready when you get here." He stayed there, until she made it to
the door, then went home.
At precisely seven o'clock, he was knocking on the door. Her father answered it. "Hello, Mr. Martin. I'm here to pick up
Jade." "Come in, and have a seat. She's almost ready." As Sean sat down, her father went to the stairs, and yelled up to her,
"hey, Jade. Your date is here." "Thanks, Dad. Tell him I'll be down in a minute." "I'm sure he heard you." Her father went
into the living room, sat in his chair, and stared at Sean. "I want her back by eleven-thirty." "Not a problem, sir." "I'm
trusting you will be a gentleman with my daughter." "Yes, sir. I will." "Really, Dad. I swear you've been practicing that
since I was born." "Maybe I have."
Sean didn't hear her dad. He was too busy staring at her. She was a totally different woman than the one he dropped off
after school. Her long hair was pinned on top of her head, make up had been applied, her dress was black, and went down to
her ankles, with slits on the sides going up to the middle of her thigh. Long black gloves covered her arms up past her elbow.
Sean got up, and walked over to her. "You look beautiful." He pinned the corsage he had gotten to her dress. "Thank you. You
look very handsome." "Alright. I want a picture," her dad said. Sean wrapped his arms around her waist, and she laid her hands
on his chest. Once their eyes adjusted after the flash went off, they went out the door.
The ride to the prom was quiet. Jade was busy thinking about what they were going to do after they left, and Sean was getting
the same ideas. "Do you..." they both started. "Go ahead, Jade." "No. What were you going to say?" "Do you want to go to "Lover's
Point" after we leave the prom?" She laughed. "I was going to ask if you were going to take me. Yes, that would be fine."
"If you don't want to, just let me know. I was thinking we could go there, because we haven't really spent any time alone."
"No. It's ok. I want to." He gave himself a little smile, and hoped she didn't see it.
As they walked through the doors of the auditorium, heads turned to look at them. One of the guys walked up to them. "Wow!
What did you do with the ugly girl you've been seeing?" She punched him in the jaw. "You just insulted her." He wrapped his
arms around her. "Don't listen to him. You're always beautiful to me." He gave her a small kiss. "It's people like him that
made me not want to come." "Well, he did compliment you, too." "I know."
A slow song came on. "May I have this dance?" Sean asked. She smiled at him, and slid her hand in his. They went out to
the dance floor, and with their arms around each other, slowly began to sway to the music. "Sean, when are we leaving?" "We
just got here," he laughed. "I know, but this isn't really my thing, and even you were wondering why we were coming." "I want
to find Mark, and then we can leave. But, not until after this dance." She looked up into his eyes, and he leaned down to
kiss her. One of the chaperones came up to them. "Not here, you two." "Yes, ma'am."
Once the song was over, Sean went to look for Mark, while Jade went to get a drink. "Hey, man. You made it," Mark said
when he saw Sean. "Yeah." "Where's Jade?" "She's over at the drink table." "I don't see her." "The one in the black dress."
"Wow! What a difference." "You're telling me." "Are you going to Brock's party after the prom?" "We may stop by there, but
we're leaving here early. We're going out to "Lover's Point"." Mark laughed. "Good luck, man." "Hell, I don't need luck. She
wanted to go, too." "So, what are you still doing here? If she were my date, we never would have made it." "Yeah, but she's
mine, so watch what you say." "Hey, it's cool. I'll see you at school Monday." They shook hands. "Later."
Sean walked over to Jade, and laid his hands on her waist. "Are you ready to go?" he whispered in her ear. "Ready when
you are." "Let's go." They slipped out the side exit, so no one would see them. Once in the car, he put the arm rests up in
the old Mustang, so she could sit closer to him. He started the car, and squealed the tires as they left the parking lot.
He reached down for her leg, but only found the seat. "You can come closer. I don't bite." "I might like it if you did.
I didn't want to bump you while you're driving." "What..." That's when he heard the rip of the zipper on her dress. He glanced
over at her, and saw her pushing the straps of her dress off of her shoulders. He turned his attention back to the road. "Um...
Jade?" "Yeah?" "What do you have on under that dress?" "Very little." He clenched his teeth, and tried to control the growth
in his crotch.
He made a fast turn down the road leading to the lake. Jade threw the dress and her high heels into the back seat, then
scooted over next to him. He draped his arm over her shoulders, and played with the edge of her bra. He parked the car on
a landing ten feet above the water. He turned off the engine and headlights, and turned on the radio. He turned to look at
her, and take in her full beauty. He leaned over to kiss her, and she greatfully accepted it.
His hands went up her sides, until his thumbs slid over her bra. Her hands reached out and slowly unbutton his shirt. Once
the last button was undone, she pushed the shirt and his jacket off. His hands went behind her, to unfasten her bra. They
threw the clothes in the back seat, then stared at each other as their hands went over the other's body. As Jade's hand slid
down to the waist band of his slacks, she asked Sean, "do you have protection?" "Yeah. I couldn't leave without it."
She unbuttoned his pants, and slid her hand inside. He let out a groan as she wrapped her hand around his shaft. He claimed
her lips again, this time laying her back on the seat. He pushed her panties down as far as he could, while she pushed his
slacks down. He positioned himself between her legs, before taking the foil wrapper out of his pocket, and putting the rubber
on. He took the weight of her breast into his hand and kissed her, as he glided inside her. His thrusts were slow and methodical.
Jade looked at the dashboard lights as her eyes drifted shut. "Sean?" "Yeah, Jade?" "Will you love me forever?" 'Oh, please...
Let me sleep on it,' he thought to himself. "Can this wait?" "No. I gotta know right now." She grabbed his hips to stop his
thrusts. She felt his length throbbing inside her, and knew he was close. He closed his eyes and moaned. "I'll love you 'til
the end of time." She released her hold on his hips, and let him thrust into her faster than before, driving them over the
edge at the same time.
Twenty years later:
Sean sits on his son's bed, telling him the story of his junior prom. "In short, when you tell a woman you will love her
forever, you had better mean it. You've seen how your mother and I fight." "Yeah. It gets pretty bad." Jade stands in the
doorway, and says, "Eric, if you don't get going, Mary will think you stood her up." He stood from the bed, and looked in
the mirror to adjust his tie. "How do I look?" "Just like your father did. Very handsome." "Thanks, Mom." He kissed her cheek.
"I'll remember what you said, Dad." "Good. Now, go on. Have fun."
Sean and Jade followed Eric to the door. Sean wrapped his arms around Jade as they stood at the window, and watched their
son get in the old Mustang. "Our marriage isn't that bad, is it?" He laughed as he kissed the top of her head. "No, babe.
I was just trying to scare him out of having sex tonight." She turned around in his arms. "Speaking of prom night, and sex...
Let's go relive our's." "There's not enough room in the new car to have sex." "We can go out to "Lover's Point" and go skinny
dipping." "You're on, babe."
