She is sitting in the station
Waiting for the train.
In her heart there is falling
Acid Rain.
She is reading a sci-fi novel
Of a battle in space.
Her heart is in darkness
seeking grace.
She hears the train approaching
Dimly down the track.
She is lost in a memory
going back.
And the world revolves in sadness.
And the world revolves in pain.
And she's sitting on the edge
Of what can
never be again.
She stands and walks forward
Entering the subway car.
Wishing she were elsewhere
away far.
The noises, they assault her
Hitting into her head.
Memories spew from her
of the dead.
A thousand miles she travels.
A thousand stations go by.
In the dark tunnel she collapses
emitting a cry.
And the world revolves in sadness.
And the world revolves in pain.
And she's sitting on the edge
Of what can
never be again.
The train's reached its destination.
She stands and says goodbye.
As those who traveled with her
to heaven fly.
She turns and scans the tunnel.
Its darkness like a tomb.
All gone, all ended, her life
a barren womb.
She ascends to the sunlight,
To a skyline rearranged.
One of many alterations
a world changed.
And the world revolves in sadness.
And the world revolves in pain.
And she's sitting on the edge
Of what can
never be again.
