One after another the hours have passed;
The years have accumulated
Until a decade has vanished.
The hole in
the ground has been filled
But the hole in our hearts
Is too large for any memorial to ever cover.
When decades turn
into centuries,
When all who were there are no more,
What will be the remains
Of a day burned into our souls?
3652 days have the mark of our sorrow.
But life goes on.
Rebirth and rebuilding
Must be the legacy of our pain.
Only
in our living
Can we honor our dead.
In the quiet of a morning
We once again speak their names,
Now inscribed on bronze panels
For all eternity.
Waterfalls
whisper their stories
That only angels can hear.
We must shore each other up.
Brace ourselves for more years of sorrow.
But we must also remember the sunny days
When
the light kissed the Twin Towers
And warmed our loved ones hearts.
A time when they walked through life with purpose
-
When they were loved…
As they still are now.
