The sunlight kisses the morning
Golden rays upon the dew.
Light casting shadows
Over the flowers placed early on this day.
Light glints off the plaques;
Names sparkling in the noonday sun.
We stand and remember
Another year done.
At dusk we light our candles
As the Towers of Light burst forth.
Darkness encroaching…
Two beams reaching the stars.
Into the velvet of space
Onward and outward they travel.
Into our memories, we retrieve
The brightness of your lives.
We stand between the candle and the stars.
Between the darkness and the light.
For we are the memory keepers
And it is our promise to remember
To shine that light and never let it go
out.
