Do you remember where you were standing
The day the earth stood still?
The day the Towers collapsed around us
And
Terrorists exerted their will?
Is that bright September morning
Still etched within your brain.
Or have you dowsed the flames of sorrow
Bandaged
over the gash of pain?
And time keeps on moving
in a never ending stream.
Erasing all that has occurred
and all that ever has been.
Does the flag on your car antenna
Still fly proudly as you drive.
Or is it torn and tattered, wilted
Grief's
feelings barely alive?
This morning we gathered in silence
Another month has gone by.
Some are holding to the memories
Others have
let them fly.
And time keeps on moving
in a never ending stream.
Erasing all that has occurred
and all that ever has been.
Do you remember where you were standing
When the smoke engulfed the world.
When your neighbor's body surfaced
When
old glory was unfurled?
Do you take the time to remember
The lost who won't return?
Or did it end the day they lit the sky
Or when the
rubble stopped to burn?
And time keeps on moving
in a never ending stream.
Erasing all that has occurred
and all that ever has been.
