We stand on the precipice of the universe.
Below us, the past
Above us the stars of our today.
Let us lift our eyes
To find the Light to guide us
To show us the path into tomorrow.
Let us not forget the flames
Of those lives that burned brightly.
Even though where time and space intersect,
Yesterday wages a battle for our hearts.
In the vastness of time,
We stand between the darkness and the light.
Between the candle and the stars.
Between what was and what never shall be again.
As we cry out for help
To lead us beyond our yesterdays,
Let us seek that ray of Hope
That will guide us
Beyond memory's despair and darkness.
So let us light a candle
Against that darkness,
To illuminate our walk between the flames
Of grief and emptiness.
For we know,
As it is written in the Book of Wisdom,
That the souls of the just are in the hand of God,
And no torment shall touch them.
They seemed
To be dead, and their passing away was thought an affliction,
There going forth from us utter destruction.
But they are in peace.
