On Sunday June 10, 2001, at noon, there was a service of Calling Buddhas' Names Repentence (108 bows) at our temple, with 63 participants, under presidence of Upasaka Minh-Qúy Lê Ðình Yên Phú, with Upasaka Nguyên-Luc Lê Ðúc Hùng striking the bell and Upasaka Nguyên-Lôc Nguyên Tý playing the motak (mõ). It rained hard. Our President Upasaka Minh-Quang Nguyên Lê Ðúc announced to the assembly the upcoming visit of Venerable Thích Ðông Chánh, Head of the General Committee of Liturgy of the Vietnamese American Unified Buddhist Church, resident monk of Thuòng-Quang temple, Columbus, Ohio, to our temple from Saturday June 30 through Sunday July 1, 2001, delivering a Dharma talk during the 11am Sunday service, and presiding a day-retreat from 9am Saturday for our Buddhist members.

The youngsters from Hai Ðúc Buddhist group arrived early from 10 am, as were the ladies from the catering service under the presidence of Upasika Huynh Thi Ngâu, for lunch preparing. We saw Upasikas Thành (Pham Thi Bòng), Phan Thi Du, Hô Thi Ðê, Lý Nguyêt Huong, Bùi Thi Chuong, Tât Walling, Bùi Thi Hiêp, Nguyên Thi My Trà ... in the kitchen preparing and cooking foods for the vegetarian lunch. The young members of GÐPT Hai-Ðúc cleaned the altar, the great hall, arranging flowers while the grown ups had their regular meeting to review and plan for upcoming activities. Upasika Nguyên Xuân Mai taught Vietnamese to the youngsters.

On the menu, we found fried vegetables with tofu, fried stuffed tofu, sour soup, steamed greens, salad with refried soy paste, served on rice. We appreciated the offerings from Upasika Bùi Thi Chuong of greens, mints, sweet relishes (mung bean and sweet rice dumplings and bean and algar), from Upasika Bùi Thi Hiêp of greens, herbs (basil and mint) and cut flowers, from Upasika Hùynh Thi Ánh daisy flowers, from Upasika Nguyên Thi Thúy Vân of Chinese gourds, cucumbers and herbs, from Upasika Lê Hoa Nhuy of sweet rice ... Xin chö Phaät gia hoä cho quyù vò! After lunch, the ladies and the youngsters from GÐPT stayed for washing dishes, pots and pans, cleaning the dining room, the kitchen, vacuuming the halls.
