On Sunday June 3rd, 2001, there was a noon service in our temple for peace and harmony (Câu An) and also for safety of the Most Venerables Thích Huyên Quang, interim Head of Sangha Council, and Thích Quang Ðô, Secretary-General of the National Executive Council, Unified Buddhist Church of Vietnam. The service was presided by Upasika Nguyên-Diêu Nguyên Xuân Mai, with Upasika Diêu-Ngoc Lê Thi Hông Thu striking the bell, and Upasika Châu-Ngoc Lê Hoa Nhuy playing the motak. Near the conclusion, a service for Transcendence was added for the deceased Nguyên Trung Quân died May 18th, 2001, and Huynh Long, under the direction of Upasika Nghiêm-Ngoc Nguyên Thi My Hông. There were 76 participants. Our president, Upasaka Minh-Quang announced the upcoming retreat at Nhu-Lai temple at Denver, Colorado, organized by the General Committee of Dharma Propagation with nearly thirty speakers during the July 4th Holidays, asking members to participate; also the uploading of the Ksitigarbha Sutra to our Web page with trial of Unicode font.

Gaàn döùt buoåi leã, ÑH Nghieâm-Ngoïc Nguyeãn Thò Myõ Hoàng tieáp chuû leã Caàu Sieâu cho höông-linh Nguyeãn Trung Quaân, maát ngaøy 26 thaùng Tö Taân Tî (nhaèm 18 thaùng 5 naêm 2001), vaø höông-linh Huyønh Long, maát ngaøy 15 thaùng 1 naêm 1993. Ñaïi chuùng coù 76 ngöôøi. ÑH hoäi tröôûng Minh-Quang thoâng baùo cho ñaïi chuùng veà khoùa tu hoïc taïi chuøa Nhö-Lai, Denver, Colorado, do Toång-vuï Hoaèng-phaùp toå chöùc vôùi gaàn 30 giaûng sö, nhaân dòp leã Ñoäc-laäp, yeâu caàu ñaïi chuùng hoan hæ tham döï; ngoaøi ra, Kinh Ñòa-taïng tieáng Anh cuõng ñaõ ñöôïc ñöa leân trang löôùi cuûa Hoäi vôùi font Unicode ñeå thöû xem coù hieän chöõ Vieät vaø Hoa toát hay khoâng.
The youth from Gia Ðình Phât Tu Hai-Ðúc arrived early for cleaning the altar, the great hall, arranging the flowers, fruits and offerings, as well as helping in the kitchen. The ladies in the catering service, under the direction of Upasika Nghiêm-Ngoc Nguyên Thi My Hông, also arrived from 10am to prepare the lunch, with Upasikas Nguyên Thi Tu, Võ Thi Cài, Lý Nguyêt Huong, Huynh Thi Ngâu, Bùi Thi Chuong ... and later Hô thi Ðê, Duong Thi Em, Bùi Thi Hiêp ... The offerings of oranges were made by Mrs Qùy, sweet relishes and hard jellies by Mrs Chuong, sticky rice by Mrs Ðúc. Upasikas Ðoàn Xuân Hiêu gave cases of cabbage, carrot, tofu; Bùi Thi Hiêp gave greens, and flowers for the altar. May them be blessed by the Buddhas!

Baø Quyø cuùng moät thuøng cam, baø Chöông cuùng cheø ñaäu xanh boät baùn vaø baùnh xu xoa, baø Ñöùc cuùng xoâi. Baø ÑH Ñoaøn Xuaân Hieáu cuùng hai thuøng ñaäu huõ, moät thuøng baép caûi, moät thuøng caø roát; ÑH Buøi Thò Hieäp cuùng rau naáu aên vaøhoa cuùng Phaät. Xin chö Phaät gia hoä cho quyù vò! After the service, participants gathered in the dining room for a vegetarian lunch. The Vietnamese class for youngsters was conducted by Upasika Nguyên Xuân Mai. After lunch, the ladies and the members of GÐPT group stayed for cleaning and dish washing. May all be safe and happy!
