Toilet Training!

Well I wouldn't exactly call it toilet training, but Josh has been going to the toilet lately.  He likes to sit there and read his favourite book called "Bums" (thanks Aunty Anna and Uncle Benny!).  Mostly he just sits there and reads (like a typical male!).  But on the 1st of March we must have had a breakthrough - or more likely it was a fluke on the timing, but Joshy did wees in the toilet!!!  It was very exciting!  Josh was so proud of himself, he had a huge smile on his face, and we were clapping and he even got a chocolate (as an 'incentive' for next time!).  The excitement has kind of slipped a bit since then now that I realise that was a once off and he really isn't ready for full on toilet training just yet.  Oh well, looks like we will be buying nappies for a little bit longer.

Trains

Josh has become very clever with his trains this month.  He can tell the difference between them.  When he has his Thomas book, you can ask him "Where is James?" "Where is Thomas?" etc and he can point to them all.  And just yesterday he came out with a new word... "Gordon".  It sounds more like "Gorn" but you get the idea!  I think Gordon must be his favourite train now.  Uncle Gordon will be pretty happy to hear that!

Photos
And now to actually put some text around these photos!  On the 4th March we went to Aunty Anna and Uncle Benny's wedding.  Of course we couldn't resist buying Josh a little suit to wear for the occassion.  He looked adorable (of course!).  It was a hot day though, so the suit didn't last long, and then he had shorts and tshirt on and went and played on the playground all day.  Quite a few people commented "Does he ever stop?"  The answer is "NO!" He is just like the Everready Bunny!  He just keeps going and going!  There is a picture of him playing in the leaves.

The other photo is from today when we went to the zoo.  If you look very closely you can see a real elephant in the background in the cage.  We got to stand about 1 metre away from this huge elephant... it was amazing!  I felt sorry for him being in the cage though.  Most of the zoo trip today was spent looking at animal's bums!  I would just say "Look a zebra has a..." and Josh would yell out "Bum!".  And his favourite animal at the zoo today - the seagulls!  Typical!!  But he did really enjoy the monkeys who were swinging around on the rope and Josh was yelling out "Wee!" (And no it wasn't so he could go to the toilet!)

Bums!

This is kind of related to the toilet training story but not quite... but don't get the wrong idea!!!  Because Josh has been reading his favourite book so much, he has really learnt what a bum is.  He points to each of the animals bums in the book.  Oh for those of you who don't know, the book goes something like this (and yes and I can recite it word for word now!) - An elephant has a... wrinkly bum!  A zebra has a... stripey bum!  And it has flaps that you lift to see the bum.  Of course kids are going to love a book like that!  Well one day I put Josh to bed and he pointed up to his bookshelf and said "Bum".  I was shocked, and I thought it was hilarious!  And because we were laughing, it made Josh say it over and over.  We got that one on video so you can check it out for yourself.  That is the short version... the other one was too big, but it had Josh laughing so much he could barely talk.

Dad

Josh had a new word explosion in the last week - right when I thought he wasn't going to have any this month.  On Saturday Josh woke up in the morning and he wanted to go down and see Kel, who was still in bed.  And he actually said "Dad".  Its funny how he just starts using a word all of a sudden.  It made Kel's day.  And he was saying "Bye Dad" and when I was hanging out the washing and it was one of Kel's t-shirts, he pointed to it and said "Dad's".

I'm gonna be a Big Brother!
This is Josh's new tshirt... now that it is official.  And in honor of the occasion, here is a link to a new website (the adventure begins again!!!)
The format is a little different - technology has moved ahead in the last three years!  It is called a Blog, and it is more like a diary that I will just add entries to whenever there is anything exciting to tell.  Hope to see you over there!
