Magnetic Island!

The biggest thing that happened this month was that we all went on a holiday to Magnetic Island for Aunty Janie and Uncle Dale's wedding.  Josh was really good on the plane, but we did have a bit of an accident at Melb airport when was running toward one of those Guide Dog money box things and slipped over and hit his head on the corner of a wall which just happened to have metal on the corner.  (Someone always gets injured on our holidays, so at least we got it over and done with right at the start!).  We managed to get some ice from Boost Juice to put on his head so it didn't end up as bad as we thought it would.

Our holiday house had a swimming pool and Josh loved splashing around in it!

A really cool thing started happening while we were on holiday... Josh did wees in the toilet!  It started in the plane... he decided he wanted to go after I went so we both squished in the little cubicle and amazingly he did the biggest wee!  I think if he had done that in his nappy it would have gone everywhere!

Then the first morning of the holiday Josh woke very early and I went to check his nappy and it was dry so I put him on the toilet and he went!  That started a routine that we did every morning, and a few times through the day.  Very exciting!

The other thing that I really liked about the holiday was that Josh got to spend some quality time with his aunty's, uncles and cousins.  It was really nice to see him running up and giving them hugs and kisses.

Favourite Things

Book: The Red Caboose (the golden book)

Movie: Heffalump (he watched it at least 20 times while on holiday)

He also likes Superman, but he did cry in a bit when the model train set crashed during an earthquake.

Another funny time he cried was when they took his stroller to check it onto the plane - he got most upset about that!

Josh can count to ten now!  He can go up to six by himself, but sometimes needs a bit of help toward the end.

It goes something like this: one, two, tree, hoar, tries, hix, n, eight, tine, ten!

Toilet Training

Once we got back from Magnetic Island, we had a trial day of Josh wearing Jocks.  I set the timer for every 60 minutes (to remind me to remind him to go to the toilet).  We ended up lasting the whole day in jocks!

Thursday he had a few accidents, but I think two of them were while he was at 'school' and the staff probably weren't as patient or as vigilent as we are! (A few times he had to sit there for about half an hour before anything happened, and he refused to leave the toilet).

Friday I was a very proud mummy when I got the message at work that Josh had been taking himself to the toilet when he needs to go.  We worked out that he has trouble getting the jocks down but if he is wearing boxer shorts he can do it all himself, .

The only problems we seem to be having now are that he keeps getting up at night saying he needs to do wees (which in a way is good, but can be very frustrating while trying to watch a movie and he has just been 15 minutes ago!)

And the other thing is that he won't do poos on the toilet (which can be extremely messy when he is wearing boxer shorts!!!)

Train Spotting
A new little ritual that me and Josh have is to go and watch the Steam train as it goes through Melton station on Sundays.  The time varies each week so we have to go and ask each time what time it will be coming.  The first time we went we made up a little song to remind us ... it went like this "12:43, 12:43, the train will come, the train will come at 12:43".  Josh kept singing the song long after we had seen the train and I had to tell him that we didn't need to remember anymore!

The next week I got video footage of the train and Josh just loves to watch it over and over again.  Every time he watches it he gets so excited like it is the first time he has seen it!

This is a picture of Josh waiting for the train at the station.
