Josh's First Car!

From the photos you can see that Josh helped build his very own car... bed!  We had lots of fun finally putting it together.  His room is finished now.  It has blue and yellow walls with a border of cars, trucks, buses and boats.  Then there is the red car bed with Thomas Doona set and red sheets.  I haven't finished the drawers yet, but Josh has taken up all the floor space anyway with his train tracks.  Every day the tracks have changed, he adds a bit here, and takes a bit away.  He really doesn't like it if a bit of track doesn't join up all the way.

Anyway, it took about a week of frustration, but Josh now happily (most of the time) sleeps in his car bed.  It took us a while to work out the system... we have to change the light globe to a red light (or now a black one after the red one broke).  This makes it not too dark, but not too light.  When we left the normal light globe in he kept getting up and turning on the light and playing with his trains.  We also have the door closed.  Otherwise he kept coming out.

In the mornings he wakes up and plays with his toys until we get up and let him out.  He has happily done that for about an hour on Easter morning (while the Easter Bunny was hiding eggs).

Ears
This is a photo of Josh being creative and helping me make bunny cards for Easter.  He really liked the fact that these bunnys had furry ears.  He had lots of fun with the textas colouring in.  And he amazed me by picking up a blue texta and saying Blue!  I have no idea where that came from!  But of course I was very excited and we kept repeating it over and over.  Then he saw another blue texta, which was light blue and he said "another blue".  Then I tried to teach him green, and he got that one right too.  He is really starting to copy what you say now, so I nearly had him saying pink and purple too.  But so far blue and green are his favourites.

Easter!

The Easter Bunny was very kind to Josh this year... with lots of chocolate!!!  We had Hot Cross Buns for breakfast and then we went outside to see if the Easter Bunny had been.  Josh ran to the basket sitting on his table (running past a few eggs on the way!  Then he saw some eggs in his truck!  He started filling up his basket.  The path led toward the shed, and then he found the rattly bunny (with smarties inside!).  Then the trail led toward the swing set (did I mention that our lovely neighbour threw a swing set over the fence for us?).  Josh was very excited, with lots of "Oh Wow"s!  and "More!".  The trail ended with a Thomas Easter Box set in a bush.  I think that was definitely the favourite!  Then we found a few that had been missed, and a few that Eddie has found (even though he had been tied up!).

We had Easter lunch with the family at Laura's.  Josh and Riley play really well together now.

Then we went to Grandma and Grandpa's new house, where Josh kept looking for the horse!!!

Word Explosion!

The word explosion has continued this month, we ran out of room on the piece of paper we keep on the fridge!

Hello, Keys, Kiss, Josh (yes he has finally learnt to say his own name!), Cat, Kitty, Rock, Duck, Dog, Work, Kel, Wees, Cool, Cake, E.I.E.I (as in Old Mac Donald had a farm), Darc (for Darcy the dog), Pooh, Blue, Green, Go, Cow, Crash (his favourite word this month, I think he worried people when he kept yelling it out on the train!), Bean, Corn, Hooray, OK...yes, No Work (said when something doesn't work, or if he doesn't want me to go to work), Look, Bee, Diesel, Horse, Tractor.  That is 32 new words or phrases in one month.

Oh and some of those words he might have said before but now he says them much clearer.  Water is one that he says very clearly, it almost sounds like a British accent.
