The Basics
Here, you will be tought how to fight and how to win. It's not hard to learn how to talk the talk and walk the walk.

Yellow Coin
|
1 unit of currency, replenishes health by 1 energy unit.

Red Coin
|
2 units of currency, replenishes health by 2 energy units.
Get eight of these and get a star.

Blue Coin
|
5 units of currency, replenishes health by 5 energy units.

1-up
|
They're still those lovable green spotted mushrooms that give you one life. Get 50 coins, you'll get a 1-up when you finish the level. You'll get 100 1-up's when you talk to Yoshi on the roof if you have 120 stars.

|
Shells
|
This time, koopa shells are now used for transportation, not for kicking. Some of the shells still have the koopa troopa in them. Jump on the shell and ride it until you bump into a wall or press [Z]. Shells can be uderwater too; Just hang on to it (hold [B]) until you don't want it anymore.

Heart
|
You'll find spinning hearts in various places. A heart is a health restorer. The faster you run through it, the more health units you get replenished. The hearts are placed in very reasonable spots, in places where you can get easily hurt.

Item Box
|
Holds coins, 1-ups or even a star.

Red Box
|
Holds a wing cap. Is not available until its cap switch is activated.

Blue Box
|
Holds a vanish cap. Is not available until its cap switch is activated.

|
Holds a metal cap. Is not available until its cap switch is activated.
