There are a plethora of books on the subjects of Wicca, Druidism, Paganism, Shamanism, etc. on the market and most of the ones we have found have been worth the money spent and very informative on the subjects they covered. But as with all genres, this one has it's share of "crack-pots" who apparently write only for the money they make from sales and don't care about the damage they do to individuals that trust them and the good name of the craft, itself. You should always be careful about the knowledge you take away from any book. Be cautious even when you see the books along side those of the noted authors below. Just because a person claims to be a knowledgeable teacher, doesn't mean they are what they claim. The following books are ones that we, personally, own and consider to be quality reading material for those interested in the wiccan/pagan paths. They are by some of the best and most noted authors in their fields. They are among some of the best written hat we have discovered thus far. This is a small list for now, mainly for those seeking an introduction to these paths.
AUTHOR : SCOTT CUNNINGHAM TITLE: WICCA: A GUIDE FOR THE SOLITARY PRACTITIONER A great book to start with if you are practicing on your own or even with a small coven who are still learning the ropes. Great ideas and a great deal of working knowledge to start practicing with immediately.
AUTHOR : SCOTT CUNNINGHAM TITLE: CUNNINGHAM'S ENCYCLOPEDIA OF MAGICAL HERBS A must in my opinion, for those practicing at home and in coven. It is filled to the brim with everything from, simple recipes and easy-to-do spells, to more complicated mixtures. If you plan on working with herbs this is a keeper.
AUTHOR : SCOTT CUNNINGHAM TITLE: THE COMPLETE BOOK OF INCENSE, OILS & BREWS Typical Cunningham, and yet another favorite of mine. Filled with recipes for inks, powders, baths, tinctures and more. A cornucopia of all kinds of recipes imaginable for items which can be used everyday. As Yule approaches, I normally break out this book and get started making Yule gifts. If you have trouble finding a special gift for a magickal someone, why not look through this book and see how to spoil your friends with all kinds items that are hand made and personally charged by you, to let them know how much you think of them?
AUTHOR : SCOTT CUNNINGHAM TITLE: MAGICKAL AROMATHERAPY Yet another great Cunningham book. Full of the ways in which flowers, herbs, essential oils and spices can be used to heal, help and spell you into a better life. This is an excellent book for anyone who works with, or plans to work, with essential oils and scent based magick. It has helped me learn a lot that I didn't know, even from other Cunningham books. It was especially helpful in the what "not to do" category. (The coven and I all wish I had gotten this one sooner...)
AUTHOR : RICHARD VAUGHAN TITLE: NUMBERS AS SYMBOLS FOR SELF-DISCOVERY Without a doubt, the best and most accurate numerology book I have ever used for explanations of the numerical values of characters, personalities, motivations and fates. It also has the formulas to help you track annual, monthly, and even daily numerical forcasts. This is one I will definitely recommend to anyone interested in learning more about numerology.
AUTHOR : D.J.CONWAY TITLE: FALCON FEATHER & VALKYRIE SWORD An excellent resource that teaches women how to reclaim the power that has been stripped from them throughout the patriarchal societies of the past several hundred years. A must for men to understand their women and for women to understand themselves.
AUTHOR : D.J.CONWAY TITLE: MOON MAGICK Superb book that helps you understand the moon phases and the power the moon has over the actions and spells and daily lives of us all. You will learn how to use the various phases and strengths to your advantage. An excellent guide for the moon magick workers among us.
AUTHOR : RAY MARLBROUGH TITLE: CHARMS, SPELLS AND FORMULAS A rather handy book to have about the house. Useful spells and the author is dear to my heart for being such a detail freak. He gives you a list of items needed, draws you a layout tells you specific incantations, and steps to follow to achieve the results desired. He is a very thorough man, for those who like having it all spelled out in black and white.
AUTHOR : PATRICIA TELESCO TITLE: SEASONS OF THE SUN A definite favorite for me. It is chockful of everything from history and lore, to recipes, suggested decorations, garments and more, for the various celebrations throughout the year. It also covers various traditions and lists them in date order. It was a Yule gift to me that will be cherished forever more... eternal thanks, Lysander.
AUTHOR : PATRICIA TELESCO TITLE: A KITCHEN WITCH'S COOKBOOK A book I wish I had found out about earlier, and another book which I don't think any witch should be without. This one turns each and every meal you make into a ritual. There isn't a holiday or magickal practice left out of this as far as I can tell and I can guarantee that a few of the recipes that are in this book will have your mouth watering from the written recipe alone... much less the actually scent that fills the house.
AUTHOR : SILVER RAVENWOLF TITLE: TO RIDE A SILVER BROOMSTICK A very well written book on the basics of the craft. She covers the important facts with a style and humor which makes it fun to read and study. Pity all teachers haven't learned that most lessons are better remembered through humor than by rote. Many authors could take lessons from her.
AUTHOR : DRAJA MICKAHARIC TITLE: A CENTURY OF SPELLS Filled with recipes and spells and basic information on everything from baths to herbs to washes. This one is sometimes harder to find than some of the others on this list but it is definitely worth finding for witches who want to make their own magickal items to use in their spells. I have found some of the recipes to be invaluable.
