Scrying or divining is done in many ways with many varying tools.
Our previous as well as current fields of interest and study are in the Tarot, Rune Stones, Crystal Balls, Pendulums, and Channelling just to name a few of the ones we know of and have tried with varying degrees of success. By varying we mean everything from extreme accuracy, to a very good reading, to a somewhat confused jumble of misinformation, to such a miserable failure that all we got for our efforts, was tired.
There are so many "How to" books by many different authors on every conceivible form of scrying that anyone with an interest in any given subject can find information. When looking into something we haven't tried before we will first ask friends about their previous experiences and scout out the books in the local stores. Buy or borrow a few and start reading up on the practice in question. We have noticed that some authors will tell you one thing and the next author will tell you the exact opposite, which is why we read several and then take the most credible author's advice, or take a little of this and a bit of that and see if it works better this was or the other way. Experiment. It is the only way you will ever learn. Always do it with safety in mind though. Not just yours but the safety of those around you.
Find a ritual and make it attuned to your individual power in some small way. A specific incense when scrying, a special oil to bathe in prior to, even a tea or simple with clairvoyant properties to sip while you work and you might be surprised at the difference it can make.
