Dr. Ivan Koloff was a Russian geneticist before the term had been invented. Respected as a young maverick researcher in the ’20s, he specialized in attempting to maximize human potential chemically and expanded to superhuman research and creation. He had a hand in the creation of dozens of superbeings through the ’40s into the ’80s. Whether directly or indirectly, the Red Guardsmen, Red, White, & Blue, and the Star & Stripe Program all existed because of him. He left Russia in 1962 due to political enemies and defected to the US. When the political climate changed, he returned to his homeland and was given the freedom to do whatever was necessary to continue his research. He created the Dungeon where he experimented on mutants, aliens, and "volunteers" mercilessly. Amorphous of Destructor Force was one of his tortured subjects forced to maximize his powers to the point of losing his humanity. His work on the Star and Stripe Program was his biggest success, but it led to his death because in attempting to improve the formula he created Super Soviet, who in an insane rage, killed the Doctor.

Gremlin and The Monster Society Mermen - The race of men fish, more man than fish, that simultaneously evolved with the Quince A Quail, more fish than man. After founding Lemuria, they conquered the Quince A Quail and used them as slaves for decades. They eventually freed them and have shared a strained, but peaceful, coexistence ever since. See Mermaid, Fin, and Nim. Pomage - His people were a race of extremely intelligent scientists. Their homeworld was located space claimed by the TEC Empire and, as such, they became tools of technology for the Empire. They became complacent and unimaginative under the rule of TEC since they were only allowed to work on projects approved by the Empire. TEC feared that any freedom they were allowed might result in weapons that could be used to overthrow him. As the Empire grew and he acquired new technology, their uninspired work did not outweigh his misgivings toward them any longer, so he ordered their extermination. Only Pomage was able to outwit their sneak attack and escape alive. Alone, he could not think to avenge his people and defeat TEC, so he explored gene altering technology to create super powered individuals who could. He became a kind of intergalactic Johnny Appleseed planting soldiers to fight the TEC Empire on numerous worlds in the path of TEC, including the Earth. |
Quince Al Quail - The race of fish men, more fish than man, that simultaneously evolved with the Mermen, more man than fish. The two races came into conflict in the distant past ending with the Quince A Quail being slaves to the Mermen. The Mermen eventually freed them and they have maintained a strained, but peaceful, coexistence ever since. See Mermaid, Fin and Nim.
The Sterilizers - In the late ’50s, a group of scientists and businessmen who had been frightened by the onslaught of super powered beings during the war years formed a secret society to safeguard true humanity against being diluted by these monsters, freaks, and aliens. As the 60’s progressed and mutants began to appear frequently, their worst fears were a horrible reality and they began to manipulate politics and create scientific means to stop the spread of deviant genetic monsters. They have tried many covert schemes to eliminate mutants (and those they consider as bad as mutants) and have used the android Sterilizers to attempt to stop mutants from reproducing by biological means and by murder. Many of their attacks brought them in conflict with the Protectors whose public support, coupled with the extreme nature of the Sterilizers attacks and rhetoric, brought complete defeat to the organization. Their public failures virtually crippled the effectiveness of their campaign, the financial support dried up, and the group fragmented, all but disbanding in the mid ‘90s. A few radical cells have been rumored to exist to this day. Thunder Family, The Ultraa - The planet many light years from Earth that is home to a physically advanced race that closely resembles humans although vastly stronger and tougher. Their society developed into a feudal style, almost medieval structure. The most powerful family rules the planet in a monarchy based on blood succession. See Mystery Man and Brickhouse.
